Foreign Body by Candice D’Arcy

Candice grew up in Apartheid South Africa, but despite her good girl tendencies she found herself breaking the rules (and mum and dad’s hearts) when she shacked up across the colour lines and gave birth to her mixed-race daughter at 21. Now she's dusting off her Mandela shirt and original accent to reckon with her past using stories, songs and South African slang.

Reviews

“Every second D’Arcy is on stage is entertaining. Either making me laugh uncontrollably or incredibly emotional”
- Lilithia Reviews

“Foreign Body is such an enlightening gem of a show, with delicious twists, turns and callbacks all the way through. Candice D'Arcy's engaging and charismatic presence combined with the paired back simplicity of Trudi Boatwright's direction is well-balanced and thought provoking in its examination of culture, racism, family dynamics and motherhood.”
